My first attempt at brioche and I'm rather pleased with both the appearance and the taste:

Jacqui: I'm creating this blog because I am someone who likes to push myself to try new things. However, life, or rather work, sometimes gets in the way and when it does, mundane routine takes over. In an attempt to prevent myself from becoming a creature of habit during the 2014 working weeks, I intend to try as many new recipes as possible; not just at weekends and holidays but during Monday to Friday too. I also hope that it will encourage me to venture outwith my comfort zone and experiment with my least favourite food - fish! I have received many fantastic recipe books as presents and so many of the fish dishes look amazing, therefore, it is time for me to experiment and in the process, grow and develop! I'm not going to make any claims to post on a daily basis because I know this won't always be possible and the foods that I prepare won't be of the standard that you see on the Great British Bake Off or any of the other cookery programmes that are aimed at keen amateurs. However, I do hope to have lots of fun on the way!
